The original game’s level art and placement/pathing information were invaluable to the design team because it takes away a lot of the challenge with level reconstruction and we could instead focus on building the mechanics/minigames. Ray: Thinking through the level design, for a project like Spyro Reignited Trilogy it was very important to determine which are the crucial elements that need to be spot-on for parity versus altering it to give the player an updated experience. For example, to spice things up we designed a giant mechanical dragon to encircle the park and a huge nest of golden dragon eggs perched above the square. In this case, we had a literal Fun Park to play with, and we didn’t pull any punches. As was our intention with each of the 100+ levels in the trilogy, we wanted to stay faithful to the layout and themes from the original, while enhancing the storytelling and mood with the additional detail we were able to add to the world. As the final “bonus” level in Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage, we wanted to make sure that Dragon Shores lived up to its reputation as the premier vacation spot in the Dragon Realms. Josh: The art team had a blast revisiting Dragon Shores for Spyro Reignited Trilogy. Luckily, performance doesn't suffer due to Unreal Engine 4, as the game is well optimized for the hardware. It's evident that the title isn't going for photorealism, but when you're dealing with a cute platformer, you have to make sure that the art shines above all else. The decision to go with Unreal Engine 4 was the right one because it's one of the best-looking games on the platform. The gameplay and cutscenes look like an animated film. Spyro Reignited Trilogy looks absolutely phenomenal on the Xbox One X. Updated November 12, 2018: Activision confirmed to us that Spyro Reignited Trilogy runs at 1440p on Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro. Positioning the camera and then charging is a pain to say the least. Unfortunately, swimming is awkward because you have to constantly charge into enemies because your flames don't work underwater. Just like Forsaken Remastered, you can move in any direction. For example, there's a level that requires you to swim underwater for an extended period of time. However, the camera still has some issues. Unlike the original games, the controls are tight and combat is smooth. Timing jumps is important, and gaining as much altitude before gliding to another platform will serve you well. Lastly, the cute purple protagonist has the ability to glide in the air. However, in order to break objects and smash certain enemies, you have to use the charge attack. Just like any dragon, he can shoot flames from his mouth. The controls are tight and combat is smooth. The plot for each adventure might be basic - a comical villain must be stopped - but the gameplay elevates the experience.
SPYRO LEVELS FREE
Depending on the game, the goal is to free dragons, collect eggs, or acquire talismans. Each game features a hub world with various "doors" that lead to different levels. Spyro Reignited Trilogy features tremendous level variety because you'll get to experience frozen wastelands to lush forests.
